Adding media codes to firmware

I bought a 50 pack of unbranded 8x DVD-R from Newegg to use in my LDW-411s@811s HSOR.
The media code on them is ProdiscF01. When I burned to one using Nero 6.3.0.2, the only speed available was 2x… While it burned a nice 2x disk I am too impatient to wait for that amount of time. I wondered why I did not have 4x as an option (I wanted to see 8x but I guess that is not possible, Right?).

I looked into the -R media code tables in the HSOR firmware (using Omnipatcher and getcodes) and ProdiscF01 was not a listed media code. After trying unsuccessfully several times to use spdhack to add the ProdiskF01 media code to the HSOR firmware I gave up and opened the firmware in a hex editor and altered the PRODISCS03 entry to read ProdiscF01. Now I can write 1x, 2x or 4x with Nero 6.3.0.2.

I have questions if anyone could/would answer, I would be thankful.
Is there another way to add the F01 without losing the S03 entry?
Is there known a better write strategy to use for the F01 discs?
Is 8x possible on the Liteon LDW-411s@811s HS0R using –R media?

Pick another code to change, and if the ProdiscS03 strat works best for F01, stratswap it with Omnipatcher - that way, you still have S03, and you discard another code in order to burn F01 with the S03 strat
