AD-7200A 1.09bt Firmware Problem

Hey,

I was hoping someone could help me out. I just got a Sony/NEC Optiarc 7200A. I installed it and went to get Liggy’s bt firmware. At the time of flashing the version was 1.06.

I flashed the 1.09bt non RPC1 version using BinFlash. After doing this I go to burn a disc and it says that it is not supported. So I go into NeroInfoTool and it says that my drive only supports DVD-R… no DVD+R no ±RW and no DL. I tried reflashing with 1.09bt restarting etc and still nothin. I then tried flashing the the 1.09 original and still nothing. Any insight in to why this is happening would be great. There should be a pic of the Nero InfoTool below.

Thanks.

I had some more time to mess around with the drive today so I went to the Sony-Optiarc site. They recommend putting the drive in PIO mode. I did that with their original firmware/flasher and still nothing. I then tried all of the above in ‘Safe Mode’ and still nothing.

I am using an nForce4 chipset and it is on the Parallel ATA controller. I remember seeing on Liggy’s site that some controllers may be the problem. Is this possible with my configuration?

Any help will greatly be appreciated. I don’t have enough time to mess with this thing all day. Thanks guys.

I have had similar problems with my AD-7203S. It won’t read DVD-video discs with 1.09 bitsetting firmwre or 1.09 RPC1 firmware. 1.09 original fimware and 1.06 firmware work.

I just tried reverting back to 1.06 via PIO and ‘Safe Mode’ and still nothing. Only reports support for DVD-R.

Anyone have any insight into what else I can try?

Which version of BinFlash did you use? Did you reboot the computer after flashing?

I am using 1.46a so it should work with the 7200a. I made sure it was on the list before trying it out.

Not sure what to try next. I am guessing I may have to try putting it in a different computer and then flashing it.

The thing I can’t understand is that it flashes with no errors but I am wondering if even then not all the commands get through.

Not sure if this is pertinent but one thing of note is that when flashing it erases blocks 5 - 31 but then only flashes blocks 5-30?

Thanks for responding.

Leaving safe mode

Just tried another set of IDE PATA drivers for the nForce4 chipset and still no go.

Does anyone know anything else I can try short of taking a golf club to this thing?

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (I am actually on my knees begging if you can’t see).

Flash the drive back to stock 1.06 firmware. And get the firmware from the Optiarc site, not Liggy & Dee’s site.

Also, try putting the drive in a USB enclosure or installing it in another machine and flashing it.

Thanks for the reply.

I have already tried the stock firmware/flasher from the optiarc site in safe mode and PIO and still nothing.

Liggy said it may be some virtual driver problem.

I am going to try and put it in another machine and flash it.

Thanks again for all your help.
