So, how many of you saw the thing? I went up at 2.00 in the night to see it. So my first suggestion is to move the Oscars to Brazil for next year so it wont be so late!
Billy Crystal is the obvious oscar host and he did a great job as usual, the now classic intro was well done this year too.
Now ROTK got all 11, and it it was obvious that the academy wanted to get Peter Jacksson into the oscar hall of fame for all three movies and that was more important than each individual oscar. ROTK by itself was not worth 11 oscars IMO, so one might call PJ a cheater for doing three films out of one...
And as usual best actor (male) is given to a actor that has played a sad character in a deep drama. Sure Sean Penn is good but I would have given Johnny Depp that Oscar for captain Jack Sparrow. But thats the way it is, funny people never get the important oscars.
One thing that bored me was the excruciating song numbers, for which all except for Belleville rendezvous was slow and boring. I took the moment and got some rest during those. But it got me realise Annie Lennox's mouth is almost as big as Steven Tylers  Get better pause numbers for next year!
One other thing that I noticed was the vast ammount of commercial breaks, however I didnt mind these as they showed a little Oscar studio program during those (love public service television) but for you americans, I feel your pain. Thats alooot of commercial.
Also while the US got a 5 second delay the rest of the world got the whole thing live. Thank you for that ABC
In all this Oscar was a night without suprises and with long thankyou's. People, if you ever get an oscar promise not to stand up there and mumble names, tell a story or something interesting but never ever vomit names at a rate that would make roadrunner envious. Promise!
So, what do you think about ROTK's march of glory and yesterdays awards in general?
