A silent firmware or utility to quiet the 111D?

I’ve searched for a utility or a firmware to make the dvr-111d quiter while reading dvd video, but I can’t find any, unfortunately AnyDVD has no effect on this drive …
Could someone point me to such thing ?

Start -> Programs -> Nero -> Nero Toolkit -> DriveSpeed (or download DriveSpeed separately, if you don’t have Nero installed)

I think you can also crossflash to DVD-A11XL and use the Pioneer Quiet Drive Utility (this will void your warranty).

Nero drivespeed doesn’t even detect the drives, maybe due to way the IDE channel is on the Intel G965

Nik

It is because of this chipset/drivers. Drivespeed works.

I know it works … looks like I said it’s due to the G965

“maybe”

What about IAA?

Use Firmware 1.29. The Quiet Drive Feature in Firmware 1.29 works well. See

no wonder my modded Asus 1608P3S sounds so noisy when i play a audio cd
i flashed to Pioneer 1.29 firmware
MAN ITs quiet!

mmmhh… yesterday I’ve tried every firmw available, including the 1.29, but I swear I can’t hear any difference, starting to think it’s an issue of the IDE channel on the G965.
Some month ago I personally tested many drives (http://www.avmagazine.it/forum/showpost.php?p=501017&postcount=28), and the quitest was the 110d and the 111d (1.03 FW)…
