I'm currently burning over 100 Technet ISO's (Windows Server 2008, Office 2010 etc) onto Taiyo Yuden DVD+R discs for backup purposes. I'm using Imgburn for this job and have two questions:
1) I've noticed that Imgburn is changing the Booktype to DVD-ROM and I believe this is because the default setting for "Auto Change Book Type" is checked. My understanding is that this setting is primarily for discs that will be used in older DVD players that can't recognize DVD+R discs. Is there any reason I wouldn't turn this setting off for this job since these are data discs I'm burning?
2) I've never looked at PIE/PIF values before so I thought I should check these values at the start of this large project. My burner is a Samsung SH-S203B and I'm using Taiyo Yuden YUDEN000 T03 16x DVD+R discs. After burning a few of the ISO's I opened Opti Drive Control and ran the Disc Quality test at 8x. For this test, my average PIE was 2.67 (max 19) and my average PIF was .03 (max 4). I'm not that familiar with these scores, but when I compare them against the DVD+R writing scores on the same burner from this MYCE.com review, they seem a bit higher. Should I be worried about this or is the difference too small?
