‘Fantasy Island’ star Ricardo Montalban dies

LOS ANGELES - Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became a star in splashy MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV’s “Fantasy Island,” died Wednesday morning at his home, his family said. He was 88.

I will never forget “The Wrath of Khan”, he showed the world what acting was about. He stole that movie. I still want a Chrysler “Cordoba” because of him. A full life lived well.

What impressed me the most about him is what others had to say about him: he was classy, respectful, worked with anyone and played within the rules to make a blah script at least respectable and an average script really good. I always got the impression he was first-class, but never to the degree others spoke so highly of him. Would that more people would aspire to such a wonderfully high standard!
