I have heard benq’s aren’t the best for cd burning // backing up, is this true…

And if so what is the best drive for CD-R data // back-ups. Thanks Storm~

I’ve never had a problem with CD-R’s or RW’s in either my 1620 or any of my 1640’s, and I’ve burned plenty of 'em.

Burnt plenty of CD-Rs on my BenQ 1650. Mostly MP3/Audio CDs for my car. Not a single coaster or bad burn so far even at 48x. Haven’t tried CD-RWs though.

For general cd burning/backup there shouldn’t be any problem.

And if so what is the best drive for CD-R data // back-ups.
Many people votes Plextor Premium for copy protected CDs (music, games, etc). Price = $80, if you can find one.

A good CD writer would do a marginally better job than a DVD writer, although I’ve found my Benq 1620, LG4163B & Liteon 1535S all burn pretty well. The LG I prefer over the others for RW media.

Quality media is a significant factor in this. I only use Verbatim Pastels & Super AZO for audio CDs having had bad experiences with other brands in the past.
