A big THNX and a question belonging to 851 and -R

First - a big thanx to the great work here with all the FAQs for LiteOn…

Buying and using my LiteOn 851 I’ve had a lot of questions and things I want to know; but after reading a few hours  here I still got nothing to ask :iagree:

Just only one thing I want to ask: Bevor the LiteOn i’ve had a Toshiba 2x only for -R. And I never had have some troubles by using the -R-Medias.

But know, using the same Medias with the LiteOn, I’ve results to cry for; about 60% or 70% of the written -R’s with the LiteOn I’ve tried to copy back to Harddisc gave me a CRC-Error…

Does LiteOn 851 have some problems with -R’s or is there another (known) problem ?

Thanks,

Kibu

What media are you using?

Media is “Medianca” DVD-R 4.7 labeled and some unlabeled medias I don’t know where they’re coming from.

I’m just working on who to get those mediacodes and manufactors

Well, ok. So I’m going to try some other DVD-R’s.
I just wondered about it, cause the Toshiba doesn’t have any problems with them. But I just accept if they’re a bad thing.

Thnx

It’s a well known fact that LiteOn DVD burners do not fare well with ultra-cheap media.
GL.

Oh, that’s a “new” fact for me - but one I will sure accept knowing it! No question. I just used the medias till today I haven’t any problems using with my tosh.

But, I’m happy with the LiteOn and even with the support you get for it watching at the userns and tools for it

So, is there a tip wich medias (regarding -R and +R) are a good choice for my LiteOn-Drive ?

Thanx,

Kibu

My personal picks would be:
Taiyo Yuden (TY), Mitsubishi (MCC), Maxell (MXL), Ricoh or Ritek.
(in that order).

(Moved thread to media forum).

Ok, so just the last question for me at the moment: How can I “see” when I’m buying some medias if they are for example from Taiyo Yuden ?
Cause I don’t think it’s a brand which sales medias, cause I never saw that name belonging to DVD/R

Ok, I guess perhaps here’s a thread where the manufactors a written to which media they belong  I’ll make a search for… If you’ve just the “fun” I’ll be very pleased for an answer as well

Puh - it’s getting really hard buying DVD-Medias

I found this page helping a little bit…
http://www.cdr-info.de/markt.php

But I’m not able to found any Taiyo-DVD-media till now :frowning:

So I decided first testing MCC

Searching the Stores I did’nt find those “Slimline 5”-pack.

And, some others witch are in the database with Taiyo, the sellers told another mediacode, so I didn’t buy

But, may be that I got still blind after a few hours of searching in web for the medias so I oversea something…

But I found those:
http://www.cdr-info.de/detaildvd.php?ID=1785
so cause Ssseth told them at second place I’m quit happy now for now…

After a few days of break I’m going on searching the web
