I am encountering a very strange problem with my LiteOn 832S drive. It used to work flawlessly in the past. I'm having problems reading CDs now (including those which were burnt using the very same drive!). XP often detects my CDs as blank CDs or an empty DVD-RW drive. CDs that can be identified always give errors during installations or playback (with some squeaky sounds emitted from the drive)
However, all of my DVDs are working perfectly. There is no jerky playback when movies or audio files are played. Also, programs can be installed without a hitch.
I'm wondering whether this is a problem with a dirty drive or corrupt drivers. Do hope that someone will provide some advice. Thanks.
