THE PROBLEM:
Scratched on the media layer (INSIDE!) very similar to dye spots. Causes CRC and/or horrible scans if you’re lucky.
I’ll put up some pictures. In the next post.

FAILED SOLUTION:
Anyways, I was reading their life time warranty; it’s HORRIBLE for Canada. One must ship the bloody thing prepaid and they can CHOOSE to refund you or replace it. No email contact, no shipping label and no toll free number to call. They even have a caller support for PUERTO RICA and the US website!

Would cost :
Regular Parcelâ„¢ $9.81 to ship to Sony’s warranty service center… almost as much as the dvds.

Care to resize the pics? They’re a bit huge on smaller screens.

Actually the manufacturer does not have the obligation to replace anything. If there is something like an implied warranty at all (like in Europe), it would hit the vendor. But since you had them for almost 2 years now I doubt they would do anything about it.

What about contacting Sony via e-mail (cost effective)? They might offer another solution, an RMA label or something like that. Good luck anyway.

See that’s the thing there IS no email for service for Canada. I tried the other site they want “Postage prepaid”. I am shocked I expect more from Sony
I found ATI, Logitech, Zippo, Cannon, HP and Samsung give REALLY good customer service.

I am just warning people to watch out for those dvd’s PHYSICAL defects + no easy RMA = waste of money. So I’ve nixed Sony from my buy list. I had some wonderful 2004 disks, but after this waste… I’ll spend my 10$ on some Verbatims

Some poor sod who goes out and buys a big name and loses he’s data. Princo and VDSPMSAB 01 are at least free from physical defect. Even if the quality of dye bites.

I have a 22" Widescreen and I still can’t see all of the picture without scrolling back and forth

…which has to be proved, IMHO.

What the heck?

DVD media these days is cheap as hell, no comparison like with 5+ years ago.

Simply buy and use other branded DVDs.
