I also had a strange issue with 812->832 crossflashing on my system, and my drive was also connected as secondary slave: after the crossflash with Codeguys' firmware, the Power Led in my case began flashing. Apparently the drive was ok, NeroInfoTool reported it as an 832 with DL supported.
However, I was a bit concerned with that flashing, so I restored the original US0J firmware... unfortunately, power led flashing did not disappear... also disconnecting the drive didn't solve the problem.
It was saturday afternoon, my stomach was full and I wasn't completely conscious of what I was doing... I went into the BIOS settings, loaded BIOS defaults and after reboot my machine hanged...
Finally I came back to the normal situation resetting the motherboard BIOS (battery removal + RESET_BIOS switch).
For the record, my motherboard is an Asus A7N8X Deluxe (based on nForce2 chipset), and the BIOS is at latest version, 1007.
