80's cd players, 1x burners? help!

I just purchased a '80s techincs 4x18bit cd player. thing sounds awsome. It’s has trouble reading cdr’s recorded and high speed. I’ve been able to get 4x cdr’s to play some what, my liteon 52327s won’t go any lower. I think what I need is a 1x burner to get cdr’s to play reliably. Expert input would be greatly appreciated. Thoughts about media would also be appreciated.

Quality media & relatively slow burning should do it OK.

Personally I like Verbatim Pastels & Super AZO for Audio CDs, although the Extra Protection also seem to work well.

Your Liteon is quite a good burner for CDs combined with a burn speed of 16x max and Verbatim CD-R media should work. I don’t know what app you use for compiling & burning but my favourites are Roxio 7/7.5 and Burrrn (www.burrrn.net). Burrrn is free and does a better job , generally, than the likes of Nero.

The above combination works fine on a late 80s Philips CD player.

For the absolute best in reliability, order Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs.
