6-chipset users: Weak Sector Test

Download this CloneCD image (no, it does not contain any useful files) and burn it. Then, make an image from your disc and look if there are unreadable sectors.

The image contains sequences of weak sectors (some of which have never been seen on any SafeDisc 2 CD), each is 3 sectors long (i.e. “499” actually means “499-501”)

The following regular patterns are in that image (some of them should not be malicious even for no-sheep-writers):

Does it matter which writer I use to create this test-cd?
I guess yes.
Could provide test results for LiteOn LTR-48125W VS08
and Plextor PX-W2410TA v1.04.

It won’t write 01B9, 7AB9, 7C12 in a readable way.

That’s my results with my OC 32123S to 40123S:

This result is not useful. You forgot to switch off intelligent bad sector skip.

BTW this shows how easy this can be fooled!

Now i switsch it off but the same results came :confused:

It does not write dummy sectors if you switch it off…

Now it work and read the burned CD wihout a Problem :smiley:

You see it read all the week sektors.
I have the best drive :wink:

What’s happening if I can’t write and after read these weak sectors???
(I have 24103S —> 32123S)

Don`t know whether I´m right here or not.
I have a ASUS k7 with via chipset ( I use the default win2k drivers) and a Liteon LITE-ON LTR-24103S(XB04) . Mostly I have errors on the burned cds ! Also with this test:

I ran my test by downloading the file, extracting it, and burning it with CloneCD 4.0.1.10 on a 10x CDRW for each drive.

For all of them they were written at 10x with Don’t Repair Subchannel unchecked and Always close Last Session checked.

As for reading them I didn’t really know what drive to use, so I all three drives I have listed in my profile (Plextor, Lite-On, and DVD drive). Read with Regenating Sectors off, at max speed, FES off, and Sector Scan off. Each time it was scanned twice to ensure accuracy.

Plextor 24x burnt with no AWS:

All this result is really confusing to me, whats it say about the drives? I’m really curious (o’course I gotta be to run all these tests).
