6.0 headaches

Well, as the subject states…I’m a little annoyed by the recent purchase of 6.0.

I updated to 6.0.0.11 in hopes to remedy this situation to no avail. I am running XP Home SP1 and continue to get the error “Drive in use by another application”.

I have never installed EZ CD or any other burn software other than Nero 5.5 (which I used the supplied removal tool from Ahead to remove).

My running processes are as follows:

If I use any other Nero software (ie DriveSpeed), it works perfectly…so why can’t Burning ROM pick it up?

Thanks!

One other thing…my log:

Disable IMAPI burning service?

“Drive in use by another application” is an error usually associated with packet writing software claiming the drive in use by a premastering burning program.

Not only is Nero 6.xx buggy, but InCD 4.xx as well. Try uninstalling InCD and see if the error disappears.

The problem may have been compounded by your multisession disc settings. If the problem doesn’t occur with “No Multisession” selected and burning in Disk at Once instead of Track at Once, then the multisession track at once settings may be interacting with InCD.

Usually, if a packet writing program like InCD is used, multisession recording may not be necessary. If multisession if preferred, then the packet writing program may not be necessary.

Your problem is less likely to be caused by the built in Roxio burning engine. If the advice above doesn’t fix the error, you can try disabling it as follows:

To disable the built-in Roxio burning engine in WinXP go to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services |IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service | General and turn it off by setting the service status to Stopped.

Thank you guys so much! Not sure which it was as I both disabled IMAPI and uninstalled InCD…but it works! THANKS!!!

You’re welcome, FeelingTheBurn.

Things to try:

  1. Disable all the DMA setting on your secondary IDE channel.
  2. Disable Nero ImageDrive, you can found it in your control panel of XP.
  3. cry.

Nero corrected this problem in version 6.0.0.19. You can just download the latest update from the Nero website. They are currently on version 6.3.0.2 (it’s a 22.95MB download).

Once you have updated you won’t get this problem anymore (no need to disable the built-in burning engine in WinXP) which is good news if you use the program (like I do).

Hope this helps.
