I took this from another board. Worked perfectly in my 5005 mfg May 2005.

Download ILOHack15.zip from http://ilohacker.tripod.com

Locate the file LNFA1098.ES5
The hacked file is saved into HackedLNFA1098.ES5

Upgrade the system firmware:

The 2960 thing is a way to do the region free hack without the IloHacker program. Sometimes the cycle power thing works immediately sometimes it don’t.

#3

Yes, that removes the region code, but the posted hack removes the macrovision protection. Hooked my dvd player to the inputs and viola; backups of all my favorite movies.

#4

I/we know that about the IloHacker Program, it’s been here in this forum for a long time.

Thanks

jag87xj6, not to deride your post as it was done with the best intentions but there are better guides out there which also draw attention to best practices to follow and how to overcome problems which have been drawn from the experiences of many owners.

jag87xj6 - if you have a pc get a dvd burner and back them up with all the menu’s and stuff want to keep.

I have been reading all I could about this and I have a question and I really hope you guys can help me. I read this post and saw all this info on how to do this upgrade: (note: These are the same files I got from the liteon web site earlier today when I entered my number)

LNFA1098.ES5.0102.184x.zip uncompress to LNFA1098.ES5

So I want to know if this is what I should do or do I need to do anything at all. I can’t tell for sure if you guys agree with this guys post or do I need to do something different. I just want to try to do it the right way. I know you guys are really into to this stuff more than me and know what is best. The other thing is that when I was recording off of the tv everything seem to work okay. When I hooked up my camcorder using the firewire cable and copied onto dvd-r, about 1 1/2 hours, it never stop “stopping.” I was using Memorex 8x media. I changed media to Maxell (yellow label) dvd-r and hooked up the camcorder using the 3 cables into the back input. It seemed to work fine then. So, is Memorex not a good media or what would you guys suggest, and do yo think that the 3 cables is an okay way to do it?

Your instructions are fine except that you do a system restore before and after flashing the new fw, and sometimes it is hard to exit after changing to region free (just power of then back on). Memorex +RWs are crap.
