500 Gb of data backup

Should i use DVD R or should i use tape drive... or should i wait for blue laser recording.

Blue laser technology will not be available to the general public for a few more years I am afraid.

OnStream databackups or DVD media would be the logical solution. OnStream can hold (last I heard) up to 50 GB per cassette, whereas DVD-R can store up to 4.7GB of data now.

I guess it depends on what kind of data it is and for how long you would like to store it…

I’d say to go with a tape backup.

Or maybe a Multi-Hard Drive backup if you’re up to it.

i’d never go for tapes since it’s hardly compatible with anything but it’s own standard.

And dvd recorders are cheaper
