The changelog looks impressive, guess they were just waiting for musicmatch to release the version 9 to counter strike. Still like Apollo much better than any other Player out there: http://koti.welho.com/hylinen/apollo/

Yay! CDF is sucking out too much of my time. I used to cruise the Winamp forums and find out the latest releases almost immediately, but now I just realized that I hadn’t touched the Winamp forums in weeks. :o Not that it’s a bad thing. Anyway, Winamp’s great. Very happy to see a new version out. :g Eek. Support for multiple audio tracks in AVI? Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!

Shame that the Lame developers have just issued 3.96.1 to correct some minor errors. Is it easy to update the plug-in [direct swap]?

There’s no way that I know of to get Lame 3.96.1 into Winamp right now until somebody builds a new in_mp3.dll And before you ask, no you cannot rename a current .dll from the 3.96.1 package. Finally: don’t confuse decoding with encoding, in theory the decoder shouldn’t really change much as the MP3 standard doesn’t change, just the encoding’s optimization. In theory Lame 2.0 decoder should play Lame 3.x files perfectly. Once it awhile a decoder get’s improved for speed and sound, but it’s not as often as encoders and there’s nothing wrong with that. Think of your decoder as a CD player. Yea it may be 5-10 yrs old, but it will play that brand new CD just fine.
