4x TYG01 / 8x TYG02 / 8x MXL RG03

I bought TYG01, TYG02, and MXL RG03 yesterday at an offline Yongsan store. Right after my “Mingbangwi” session, I went to Yongsan to shop for some media and memory. (Also bought a Kingmax 512MB miniSD memory.)

I bought DVD-R media only because they have been rarer than DVD+R media. Price ratio is 10:16:5. Mitsubishi 16x DVD+R will soon become available for a little under 1,600 Won which will make it cheaper than Maxell MXLRG03 8x DVD-R OEM. Currency ratio is not stable and I hope US$1 will cost less than 1,000 Won by early 2005 like it had been before late 1997.

Does > “Mingbangwi” mean getting some trim?

It’s a military term in South Korean. It’s part of the South Korean national defense system so there’s no proper English word for it. (Have to explain the South Korean army history for that.)

Anyway, testing TYG01 and TYG02 now.

Tested them all though not in all drives. No 16x was possible.

TYG01 OEM was especially cheap. MXL RG03 is especially expensive. Fujifilm TYG02 OEM is of good quality and performs well even at 12x. Whether YUDEN000T02 is better or TYG02 is better at 12x if they cost the same, I’m not sure now. I thought YUDEN000T02 was clearly a better choice before.

The V-star TYG01 is probably a good alternative to Ritek and CMC 4x DVD-R for users of DVR-A04 and other 4x DVD-R users.
