4163b a105 stopped seeing my discs

My 4163b stopped seeing any kind of discs.
It just loads a disc and blinks very quickly likes no disc found and thats it.

Is not because of a driver problem… the disc is not seen even at boot time(any kind of disc)

I dont why it happed sundley…
I just happed after I got a CRC error with DVD Shrink.

Thank you

i hope that is not because of A105…i am just about to do a firmware upgfrade to a105.

Check your event viewer, if there is a hardware failure it will show up there.

Otherwise, i’m sure much more knowledgable DVD types will respons shortly

I did an upgrade from a101 to a105 last week.
after that i installed xp sp2 and wrote several discs…
it worked ok

A105 works very well, burns my -R media much better.

i havent said it was due to a105
and i dont think it is

No, it shouldn’t be that. I’ve been using A105 for months now without problems.

The symptoms don’t sound good though. It sounds like hardware failure of some kind. It might also be something silly like the IDE cable being lose or going bad. Try changing the IDE cable and see if that helps.

If that doesn’t work, try using the drive on another system and see if it works. If it doesn’t, then it’s probably dead :frowning:

I had a similar problem. I RMAed the drive and bought another LG 4163. The dealer confirmed that the drive was faulty and sent me a new one.

This happened a few months ago, and I have been using A105 since then with no problems.

So I think it is probably a hardware fault.
