I do not have a LDW-411S @ LDW-811S anymore -The results was not good enough to my experience.

Especially not the write quality…

For now it’s a LDW-411S and will probably stay this way as it performs better than when “overclocked”.

For more than a year I read your posts. You are a man of words and facts!

It would be great if you show us some bad 8x experience / facts with this firmware.

I am sure that many will think twice when your advice is to keep the 411 a 411!

so u guys say if u mod 411 to 811 u will have less better resaults burring at *4 then on orginal 411?

That is what we are hoping to determine with this thread.
For people that have a 411S@811S and to share their results so we can see over a larger range of drives the positive/negative aspects.

Side note: If everything goes acording to plan you can go back from the 811S to the 411S afterwards.
(no you can’t ask how, so don’t bother)

What changed from burn #2 and burn #3 though?
That would do just fine for data backups and even most DVD players.

Can you post what speeds you are buring at?

If you could use the format found in the
Media Forum > DVD Media Tests
forum that would be great!

As you can see, pic #2 - DVD+RW@4x, pic #3 - DVD+R@8x. :cool: All graph are scaning at “standart” condition: 8ECC Sum and 4x reading speed. PO result are too small, so I united both graph to one.

sorry!Really!I was just thinking of perchuasing 411s and i just wanted to know if the transformation was safe.Never wanted to cause trouble!
The only thing i want to know is if the transformation is hardware os software/firmware based… Inever asked HOW exactly it was done.Nothing more.

Using TDK DVD+R 4x burnt @ 8x. This is 411@811 with firmware HS0J. Took 8:47 to burn.

The disk is recognized in 2 different DVD-ROM drives and both set top DVD players (Sony DVP-S530D and JVC XV-N50BK).

Bought a few packs of Verbatim Datalife DVDR+ most were RICOH, but one pack was MCC… Here are my results:
