411s/811s media codes

Hi all,
I have always used tdk dvd-r. Up until now I have only used 2x, on my last trip to the store they only had 4x so I figured no problem. I have found I can still only burn at 2x. I identified the code as ttg01, in omni patcher the firmware doesn’t list it. I figured I would convert over to 811s, which I have but the firmware still doesn’t support it. I have checked the 832s firmware and it does support it, but is there anything I can do until I buy the 832s.

Thanks Troy

Hmm, This is getting interesting… :cool: What is your media id?

I found two MID in Dvd Media Test forum. What can you make out of this?

Only one letter differs… :smiley: Maybe c0deguys can help you out.

TTG01 is great media to use. check this link regarding it: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=1250#comments

I used it with my 411s@811 burner and could only burn it at 2x. I’m hoping codeguys will add the TTG01 media code to their omni patcher. :slight_smile:

downloaded a hex editor. Changing the 54 to a 59 changes the text in the firmware when looking at the codes in omnipatch. The TYG01 now appears as TTG01 with the same info after it from the TYG01. I imagine there must be more to it then just listing the name, I would think there must be programming on how to adjust or treat the disk for a correct burn.

@pinto2

Could you provide the full media code dump (and not just the first few lines) of TYG01 and TTG01? Just curious…

@Troys

By doing what you’ve done, you’ve also assigned the TYG01 write strategy to the TTG01 media code. Depending on how similar TYG01 and TTG01 are in their write strats, this may or may not be a good idea. Try out a burn and see how it goes…

code, I would like too, but can´t right now… Maybe some other member using this media can. :cool:
(I only use DVD+R media…)

Just remembered a post of TTG01 from DVD Media Test forum. And at first look they seem very much alike. Don´t you agree.

But this (modding) is your playground. And the rest of us are only learning… :smiley:

I got this off dvdinfopro. Not sure if it’s what you are looking for.
