I just posted the article 40x CD-RW drives shootout @ Neoseeker.com.

NeoSeeker.com has tested four 40x CD-RW drives, the Plextor 40/12/40A, the Samsung SW240, MSI MS-8340 and the Lite-On 4012s. Of course we expect the Lite-On to win the tests, as the Lite-On drives…

in other tests , it seems that the plextor drive is the best in reading/ writing audio ( and handling audio protections ), as i only use a rw drive for reading / writing audio , i still prefer the plextor drive , even if he is more expensive and pickier with media ,

There is no perfect drive for all…not yet anyways. At this time it seems that Plextor is overall best, except when it comes to copy protections commonly used on CD-ROMs, in that field Lite-On is the best drive to get (and the overclocking possiblity doesn’t hurt them either, although they don’t seem to agree) Perhaps the best setup at this time would be a Plextor and a Lite-On writer in your system, rather than a regular CD-ROM and CD-RW…that way you should be able to beat almost anything out there…
