4081b Have tried everything.....!

Ok i’m sure these things have been posted multiple times but i though peeps might be able to give me some insight… OK
I have LG 4081b firmware 104a setup at ultra DMA 2
It was working fine and every so often it just messes up. Recently i have been unable to burn any DVDs new or resume multisession ones. I have tried different types of media and programs to no avail. I have scanned HD for errors and defragged it with no luck.

Below i post the most recent error i have been given from nero when burning on to a multisession disc. Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

You could try updating your version of Nero to the latest version 6.3.1.20. Get it here

My 4081b worked fine for about 5 months and now I can’t burn DVDs anymore… there are many people having this kind of problem with this drive… just look around the forum and you’ll see… the bad thing is it seems there’s no solution other than have it replaced, if you can, or buying a new drive (not from LG of course).

I think I had the same problem. My Lg 4081b worked fine for six months, and suddenly started the nightmare. I got always ‘write error’, just in the lead in process, with nero under windows. I tried Linux, same result.
I tried firmware upgrade (a102, a104). Same.

Finally, when i had already decided to buy another one (i had no receipt, i could not use the warranty), i opened the dvd case, and put some lubricant in the rails (the ones the lens are on). Now it is working again. I know, it sounds strange. I just wanted to let you know, in case you want to give it a try before buying a new one.

Is there anybody who can burn at 8x +R with this drive ? I tried many brands, but all of them burned at 4x. If you can burn at 8x, which brands you are using ?
