401s@811s cant burn CMC MAG F01 at 8x

the discs are memorex 4x dvd+rs bought from office depot

can anyone tell me if there is a process to do this? and if there is, will it maintain the compatibility that i would have if i had just burned them at 4x?

i just bought 100 of these babies so a speed upgrade would definitely be nice if possible

here is a graph of my first one burned. im not quite sure how to read this so if someone could let me know if this is going to be compatible with many standalones i would appreciate it. as a note: my memorex ricohs had much less activity on the graphs, so i figure they are probably better than these new ones. i could also burn them at 8x with 401@811 using hs0p firmware. these i cannot

I burnt a bunch of theses discs with HS0K and got something like PI 50Max and Po 5 Max, scanning @4X 8ECC.

would the PI and PO results depend on what program was used to burn it?

whoa the difference between scanning at 4x speed and 8x speed is quite large. i get 260 / .364 averages instead! i dont understand this kprobe i guess

Well, scanning @4X is known to causo problems with some drive and medias. If you feel your results are really bad @4X, just scan @Max speed @8ECC.

how about what the 401@811 looks like when burning the media at 4x… thats the difference im interested in

by the way this is the hex block of the media i am trying to burn at 8x… if anyone can walk me through what i have to do to enable 8x burning on this media… i assume some kind of quick hex edit? thanks!

You can´t [hex-]edit the “media code block”… :confused:

Speed “editing” must be done in your firmware. :cool:

If I remember righ, ‘ala42’ posted a good guide in this forum.

BTW, the quality of this media varying. Sometime I´m not able to burn these (Memorex) with good PI/POs even @4X speed…
