Can anyone tell me why the reading speed of my 80min datasafe x52 CDrs is so slow.

I have read the NEC faqs but as this is a CDr I guessed the rip lock didnt apply ?!

thats is a really slow read!!
princos seem to be not TOO shabby for dvd-rs, maybe they make bad cds.

Tried the standard MS ide drivers and also Nvidia SW ide drivers with the same result.
Funny thing is the disk burns at high speed, it just doesnt read at high speed.

Also tried with the hacked beta2 firmware, also same issue.

Datawrite (yellow v2) DVD-R with RitekG04 and standard firmware (1.04) also read very very very slowly, approx 90mins to dump a full DVDr.

However, the Datawrite DVDrs read at a good speed with the beta2 firmware thankfully.

DVD5 original reading with standard firmware and then Beta2

Was this a VCD or an SVCD? If the 3520 is like the 3500, VCDs and SVCDs are read at a constant 8x.

Yeah, it was a VCD. Thanks for the tip.
