howdy guys and gals.
I need a new burner for my new xeon toy. I have been looking around and while i had planned on getting an NEC3500 or the Benq I am not sure that i the best choice. The 3500 seems to have killer write speed and the 3520 is a totally new hardware platform. I plan to buy a drive in the next few weeks but i tend to only rarely upgrade my DVD burners. ( .. I am hard drive fiend.. so they is where my cash goes!) So my question then is two fold..
1) is the 3520 really capable of burn quality on par or better then the 3500 or the benq?
2) How is the firmware comming along? I know liggy and dee had a loong while to work out the kinks in the 3500. It seems the 3520 ripped off the media descriptors from the 3500 but with a totally different hardware set the burn quality was less then expected. So any guesses if or when we will see alot better burn quality?
( oh and special thanks to all the people here who unlike many other places know what thier talking about. Oh and special thanks to all the people who work for free to make better firmwares!)
OH i should mention i occasionally will rip stuff with this drive. I need a good rip quality but I don;t care if it is slow. I DO need something with high burn quality since I use DVD to archive my data. ( .... microscope images.. take up alot of space) and if my data goes poof I cry.. alot.
