2500A fails to read DVD even though Apps can see the data

I have spent over 2 hours lookinga at the forum and have not found this specific problem. If I missed- My apologies!

I am having a problem that is getting worse. It started with my 2500A burning disks, which it them failed to see untill reboot (untill the reboot windows shows a CD-R icon, and not a DVD-RW icon). This problem has now worsened to a situation where even after rebooting it fails to see a DVD in the drive. I tried updating to firmware 1.07, but no go.

BUT- DVD Info Pro sees the volume and disk and shows the following info about it:

                        Media Information

Any help will be appreciated!

Do you have any packet writing applications installed? (such as: Nero InCD, Sonic DLA, Roxio Drag-to-Disc). Do you have AnyDVD installed?

Sometimes these applications can interfere with Windows detecting media.

Also if Auto Insert Notification is turned off, you won’t see the inserted media until doing a Refresh in Windows Explorer, IIRC.

Hi- thanks for replying. In answer to your questions:

No packet writting apps (only their regular burning apps- Nero, Sonic) and also CloneDVD2, and HTFireman. AnyDVD is not installed (Don’t know that app yet).

Auto Insert Notification is ON (and works when a disk is recognized).
