Howdy

I was wondering if anyone here has previously checked out these discs

Philips 25-Pack 8X 8.5GB Double Layer DVD+R Spindle

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10077680&catid=

The price seems good but I am curious about the quality, according to the following FAQ ( http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm )they are lower end and it could be a potential hit or miss situation.

If anyone has used these, specifically for 360 backups, I would definitely like to hear your opinions.

Welcome to the forum

I suggest to buy only Verbatim dual layer discs. All other brands are really bad quality discs, with quality variable from a coaster just at the end of the burning and a coaster after some (often very short) time.

Stay away from Philips DL discs

thanks for the quick reply, I have been using Verbatim for a while now but its hard to find them at a decent price here in Canada and this deal seemed pretty sweet.

I’ll keep away thanks.

“Hit or Miss” is bang on. :iagree:

Like Geno says, I too would recommend Verbatim (specifically, +R DL).

I wouldn’t go for the Philips unless you’re prepared for possible coasters. Depending on your burner, they may burn OK, but for more likelihood of sucessful burns, go for Verbies.

Welcome to the forum, and being in the UK myself, I totally hear ya about prices

You’re welcome

Hmm. Philips 8x must be either CMC MAG D04 or RITEK ?0? (they have a whole zoo of different DL discs).
I would also recommend staying away and getting Verbatim instead, unless you really feel lucky.
I third geno888 and Arachne.
