What is the difference between those drives and is it worth crossflashing
20a1p to 20a4p?

#2

anyone??

#3

Not much except for some hardware differences (laser diode differences). Some drives have been crossflashed successfully but then again some have no luck.

I have both models and have never crossflashed. Choose at your own risk.

Thanks a lot!

I’m going to install both in my system soon.
BTW, is nero 6.6.1.15a compatible with both of them?
I was burning with 20a1p the other day and it said "smartburn enabled"
so I figured it was compatible.

Nero 6.6.1.15a would be fine for XP systems with those drives, Vista requires Nero 7. I would go with the A3P or A4P, tho the A1P is decent with recent firmware.

o.k. thanks!

I had 2 20A1P’s and both died after roughly 200 burns. I now have 2 20A3P’s that I’m pretty happy with. I really don’t see the advantage in CF’ing the drives. The guy’s here are tweaking the FW so much right now I would just look into that…
