I'm not sure about core i7's capabilities, but a P45 chipset based MB can do a bus speed of 500 (500x4=2000). The determining factor is usually the cpu/MB, but you only get up to 500 with an overclock. I think if you got a E8*00 it would be possible, I'm not sure if the quad core Q9650 can get up to 500, probably not. It would be best it the chipset had an aftermarket cooler, there is one with a heatpipe design that does a good job, forgot the name. Water cooling the chipset and cpu would also be a good idea. The performance advantage of the core i7 architecture would out weigh the need for an extremely high FSB though, and it probably wouldn't need water, wait for the next stepping to come out as they will run cooler.
What type of work do you plan on doing with it?
