OK, as the subject says! I got VS08 at current.no probs.
The only way to answer a firmware performance comparison question conclusively is to run the same tests with the same source and same media with the two software versions.
To my knowledge, no one has done a documented, rigorous test comparing these two softwares yet. Most of the evaluations have been of the “it seems” or “I think” or “it might” variety.
I would be interested to see controlled test results.
IMO the newer is often better.
If you don’t have any problem with your drive,just leave it alone 
,firmware update in needed if your have some problem with you drive.
