Tried updating to Nero 6.6.0.13, still limited to 12x

I cannot say for sure (I’m not that farmiliar with the 16x liteon burner firmwares), but liteon drives generally do not get along with - media that well. I would sugest using +r media in the future. In the mean time for the media that you already have, have you ran omnipatcher on it?

It can greatlly improve things with liteon drives.

I’d suggest running DVDinfopro with each of your media’s and see what it says it can burn at. CMC Mag is generally known as crap media. If info pro says it’s capble of burning at 16X, then I’d say you have a firmware issue. DVDinfopro is freeware.

Also if this doesn’t help you, you may want to contact a Mod and see if they would move your thread over to the Liteon forum where you may get a better responce.

Yes, I’ve learnt from reading the forums that CMC=baaaad, but because of the price/media code and other reviews online I went for it.

See this for a review of the disc:

DVDInfoPro told me the same thing as Nero/DVD Identifier, 12x appears as a maximum.

Maybe I’ll have to play with omnipatcher

Thanks for the replies guys

the 1653s can NOT burn -R media @16x, the max speed is 12x!

 Oh well, has anybody used 16x strategies on 16x DVD-R media with Lite-on burners?

#9

there aren’t any 16x -r strategies in the firmware, as the drives max speed is only 12x. there’s nothing you can do but to buy a newer drive to burn -r media @16x.

Not worth buy new drive .
16x-12x burn time differ 30’’-50’’ max, depends on system’s configuration
