16x laptop drives?

What is really holding back 16x laptop drives? is it just not possible due to the size?

Since most high end laptops have 7200rpm drives, some have even raid. HDD speed can’t be the reason.

anyone?

I’m going to assume: size restrictions, heat restrictions, power restrictions, and noise restrictions. I’m pretty sure no one would be able to come up with a decent drive that had a good enough balancing system to write well at 16x, and if so, it would probably still make a racket, require more power than laptop makers are willing to offer an internal drive, and would dump way too much heat into the laptop chassis. [As is, I know my 8x drive gets hot pretty fast and makes a good bit of noise].
