1693s - KS0B Burn Quality

Hello everyone:

Would appreciate if you take at look at the following pictures and tell me
which one is the best burn and which one the worst. Can I trust these
burns for important data backup (5 years)?

Image 1 - Burnt at 16x
Image 2 - Burnt at 8x
Image 3 - Burnt at 8x

Thanks a Million!

first of all you must scan at 4X!!!

oops. Sorry 'bout that.

Will need to scan them again tonight.

Will post the results tomorrow.

Thanks.

… and save as PNG instead of JPG. Image quality will improve considerably with only half the file size.

bronco-1, that 16x burn looks promising. Look forward to seeing the 4x ones.

Check out this thread about saving and attaching scans:

Image 4 - Burnt at 6x

Can you please tell me which one is the best burn and which one the worst. Can I trust these burns for important data backup (5 years)?

Thanks a Million !!!

The best scan is surely the last (burned @6x according your post). The second scan is not so bad, but latest is surely the best of these scans.

Can I trust the last scan for important data backup (5 years)?

r u there geno888?

Would you be kind enough to answer my question?

Thanks.

important data backups shouldn’t be made with dvds. external hdds or zip disks are better. rjpnr03 @6x ist the best you can get on dvd.

This scan will not tell you how is going to be your media in 5 yrs. It just tells you this burn is very good!!!
Get good brands medias and every thing is going to be fine. RicohJPN (unbranded) is a good brand. Are yours unbranded? If not, what brand is it!

I’m here. Sorry of I don’t answer quickly.

Like other members said, there is no way to determine if a media will last 5 years. The best way to obtain durable backups with DVDs is to use best quality media, i.e Taiyo Yuden, and then store your discs away from direct sunlight (better in a drawer, away from light in general) in a dry enveironment.

Some users refers that this utility can solve many problems for important data backups.

Thanks a million for your help, guys!!!

Cheers.

You’re welcome

The link for the utility is dead.

Is there any other utility available that does the same thing?

I tried it right now and is functioning

This is what I get:

Is there any other utility that does the same thing?

I don’t know what to say: it is functioning for me.

Try to put “dvdisaster” on google, to find an alternative link
