What kind of discs are these, and what’s their media code? Download Nero CD-DVD Speed and click on the ‘media info’ tab with one of the discs in the drive and it will list the media code, something like ‘RITEK G05’, ‘TYG03’ etc.

Don’t think the media is the issue here as I use the same media on my other PC’s 1640 and I even tested it with a TY. Is it really that the laser pickup is gone?

It has no problems reading normal DVDs though but not WRITING.

Thanks/
