1640 tray hard to open

My beloved 1640 is very hard for the tray to open, it tries to open then after 5 seconds finally pops open, also the button is now very hard to press.
You can hear the drive tray trying to open a few times before it does, anyone else seen this?

try a firmware upgrade. Sometimes it could be the firmware causing weird problems (for example, my nero always pops back to x16 although i have x12 selected, and i basically waste a disk because my media doesn't burn well at x16. flashing to a newer firmware fixed it).

Try the BSLB firmware. It seems to be the best so far.

Foreign object \ substance perhaps from pets or kids?

thanks guys, i'll go back to BSLB and remove and disasemble the drive, few months ago a cd sticker genaded inside and thought i got all of it out, possibly might be a piece left.

I have RMA'D (2) 1640's for tray issues it seems to be a common problem :sad: and one of the RMA'D drives they sent devolped the same problem after 6 weeks and I sent it back last week :a
