TiVo used to automatically skip commercials, but they were forced to drop that feature. As far as TV downloading goes, they probably refer to shows on premium networks like Supranos and the like, downloaded by folks not paying for the networks. And the folks who post the shows on P2P are usually nice enough to cut out the commercials. If your video card has TV out, and you have decent speakers, watching well encoded mp4 movies (from a DVD source) off the computer is a nearly acceptable alternative to DVD viewing. I guess the attraction of many is having access to the certain movies before they go to market on DVD; though I can’t imagine why anyone would want to watch a movie recorded by handicam from a theatrical presentation.

Yep I’m one of those millions of Brits who download movies illegally. So What?
