1:1 Copy?

I have searched and have gotten a little confused so i started this thread:

I have a few CDs that I found in my closet from a long time ago. They are pretty scratched up but they still play. I was wondering what I need to do to make a 1:1 copy?

Also I was wondering if anyone can explain why people say “near 1:1: copy”…doesnt CloneCD read the datand just cpy it so it would be a perfect copy of the data? Will it have the same CB quality sound as the original?

Thank you for your time!

I use CloneCD for DVDs (especially DVD+R DL) particularly because it does make a perfect 1:1 copy (even preserving the original layer break).

I would assume the same for CDs.

I was just asking because i read a lot about error correction changing small parts of the data so i wasnt sure if that changed the audio or not
