There are two main things that you simply
have to live with when you buy a laptop, the first one is the screen, if it’s
good then you are okay, if not you will have to manage with the one that came
with your laptop. The other part is the keyboard, I know that you can plug an
external keyboard, but then again you will have to carry extra weight with you
all the time, and that is something that isn’t an option for me.

There are however two upgrades that you can
do, first you can install an SSD to give life to your laptop, and you can also put
in more memory. There is no need to explain the benefits of an SSD, but memory
is something that you can't have enough of. The amount of RAM that you need
will vary, but anything that is 8GB or 16GB should be able to give you enough
freedom to run Photoshop, or even a virtual machine, without having to struggle
to close apps just so that you can find those extra few MB that will allow you
to run that virtual machine. You can also disable the page file if you feel
brave.

Let’s start by taking a closer look at the
package and what it comes shipped with.

Packaging

The package is simple, it holds in place the
two RAM modules, and at the same time displays the memory. At the top there is
a sticker that has all the information that is needed about the RAM, such as
size, timings, voltage, and frequency. In the picture below you can get a more
detailed view of the specifications that are displayed in the top left sticker.

Here
is a picture of the rear, so let's take a closer look at the memory kit. There
was nothing special on the front, so no picture of the front.

A look at both sides of the Crucial
BallistiX RAM.

The
front side has two stickers with information about the RAM.

On
the rear there is one big sticker that is more appealing to look at.

All
the basic information is displayed on this sticker, such as timings, voltage, and
speed.

Let’s move on and see what Crucial has
to offer when it comes to RAM and also how to choose your RAM.
