    Introduction

Backing up and copying Wii games is a very simple and quick process. Just insert an original Wii game disc, open USB Loader and press (+) on your Wii remote to install the game to your usb drive. You can now enjoy playing disc free backups directly from your USB device or SD Card. No more changing disc or worrying about the kids scratching them.

Not long ago backing up Wii games took hours and you needed to either purchase a particular LG dvd-rom drive or use your Wii and do a network copy to your computer. Well thanks to many good Wii Hackers out there, THANK YOU, we can now backup and copy Wii games in only a matter of minutes. Once you backup your games you have a few options.
    1. Play the backups directly from a USB device or SD Card [recommened]
    2. Make dvd-r backup copies and play them in your wii

My personal favorite is using a USB Loader and playing the games directly from the USB drive and not using disc anymore. If you decide to make dvd-r backups you do not have to install a mod chip. All you need to do is install the Homebrew Channel, a few custom IOS files, and a few applications. I know this all sounds new and confusing, but trust me its easy and you will get the hang of it pretty soon.

If you have already hacked your Wii and have the Homebrew Channel installed go ahead and get yourself USB Loader GX and start dumping your games. If not then scroll down, to learn How to Install the Homebrew Channel.

    Wii USB Loader

there are many different USB Loader apps, as of now my current favorite loader is USB Loader GX.

Once you get Homebrew Channel installed you just place some files on your SD Card, connect your USB drive to your Wii and start dumping games. The loaders have many options and in time you will learn how to use them.

Here are a few helpful links you may want to review before we get started.

    What you need
    1. Nintendo Wii with Active Internet Connection [download covers]
    2. Homebrew Channel Installed
    3. 2 gb or less SD Card [or more if using System Menu 4.0 recommended]
    4. USB Hard drive, USB Flash Drive or SD Card
    5. Original Wii Game Disc
    6. USB Loader GX Forwarder
    7. WAD Manager 1.4

    Prepare your SD Card
    1. Format your SD card with FAT file system
    2. Copy the contents of USB Loader GX Forwarder to the root of your sd card
    3. Create a Wad Manager folder in the apps folder of your SD card sd:\apps\wad manger\
    4. Rename WAD-Manager_v1.4.dol to boot.dol and place in sd:\apps\wad manger\boot.dol

    Instructions
    1. Load the Homebrew Channel and run WAD-Manager

    Playing DVD-R Backups

This method is not recommended, however we are CDFreaks and this is what we do, Write Data to a Recordable Disc. A few major disadvantages.
    • you still have to manage disc
    • the Wii will only read dvd-r media at 3x where as original games read at 6x
    • load times from USB device is significantly faster
    • extra time extracting the games to computer
    • i really like the look and ease of using USB Loader

    What you need

    1. Wii with Homebrew Channel Installed
    2. USB Loader
    3. Games Installed to a USB Device
    4. WBFS Manager 3.01
    5. ImgBurn
    6. NeoGamma R6 Backup Loader with Channel

    Making DVD-R Backups

    1. Dump some games to your USB device using a USB Loader
    2. Connect your USB device to your computer
    3. Load your USB device using WBFS Manager
    4. Click Extract to ISO
    5. Burn the ISO using ImgBurn

    Installing NeoGamma R6
    • Extract the contents of NeoGamma R6 Backup Loader with Channel.zip to your sd card
    • Load Homebrew Channel and install cIOS38 rev12
    • Load Homebrew Channel and select wad manager
    • Install NeoGammar6_loader.wad
    • You now have a new channel at your Wii Menu
    • Alternately you can Run the NeoGamma R6 DOL from the Homebrew Channel without installing the wad

You may read to only use DVD-R disc when making Wii backups, i have found this to be simply untrue. I have made backups using several different MIDs and brands of both dvd-r and dvd+r disc. Even dvd+r disc bitset booktype DVD-ROM using low quality media read and play just as good as the backups using Verbatim DVD-R MCC 03RG20.

Create Channels to Play Wii USB Loader Games

    What You Need
    Download the Files
    Making the Channel WADs
    1. Install a game to your USB device using a USB Loader
    2. Open WBFS Manager
    3. Click on Edit - Options
    4. Select the Channel Creation Tab
    5. Enable Channel Creation
    6. Browse to the base.wad file
    7. Browse to the Key.bin file
    8. Select WiiCrazy 1.5 and Click OK
    9. Load your USB Device
    10. Extract a Game to ISO
    11. Drag the ISO to the Right Window, Select the Game
    12. Click Create Channel
    13. Browse to a save location
    • Do not change the Channel ID Name, these names are unique and other channels on your Wii could get overwritten if you accidentally install a wad with the same channel name.
    • The game is already on your USB device so you do not have to add it back, its just a minor inconvenience you need to have an ISO to make the channel.

    Prepare Your SD Card
    1. Place Wad Manager Folder in your apps folder sd:\apps\Wad Manager\
    2. Create a new folder in the root of your sd card named wad sd:\wad\
    3. Place your new game channel wad in the wad folder sd:\wad\gamename.wad
      • Optional Recommended
    4. Place cIOS38_rev12 in your apps folder sd:\apps\cIOS38_rev12\

Install your Channel to your Wii
    1. Go to the Homebrew Channel
    2. Run Wad Manager and Install your game channel
      • Optional Recommended
    3. Go to Homebrew Channel
    4. Run cIOS38_rev12
