    If you have the H62L, why dont you just compare the Firmware Versions?
    Its just the default firmware.

    But now its possible to patch the firmware.

    I know nothing about DVD burner firmware. I just know my read performance is abysmal.

    For any media ytpe, or maybe only for DVD-Video?
    The H62 reads DVD-Video Discs only at max. 4,8x speed. But you can path this with the MCSE tool.

    I know it's not Xmas but santa just sent me some new stock LG firmware anyway.

    Here are the xL00 firmwares for the GH20N/L including the Core part, which can also be used to recover drives that had a problem, after flashing with the earlier firmware released:
    GH20NS10_EL00_Core
    GH20LS10_FL00_Core

    And here is the H66N firmware:
    GSA-H66N_CB00

    All firmware is stock (no patches).
