    Hopefully they aren't a step backwards in burning quality like the 216/116 were compared to the 215/115.

    DVR-117DJ and 117J are now available in JP too...
    And with a downloadable official utility will have the same functions as the Pioneer Retail Drives. The bezel design is however the OEM one...

    Note: All flashers are to be used in Windows by double clicking the exe file. If this should not work try in safe mode.

    I updated the package and it contains 8.21 from Buffalo and 1.21 firmware from Pioneer.

    You bought the 117 to go along with your 7240S . I can't really speak on the need for you to open it up to take pics, but I look forward to seeing the first scans of this model.

    They both sounded very promising, so I couldn't resist getting them both.

    I'll be happy to post some scans tomorrow night after work. I'm very curious how the 117 will burn compared to the 7240S.

    Price is between 40 and 50US for the Bulk versions.Dont know about the retail version though...
    I would say its about the same as when 116 series came out...

    Which online stores are selling DVR-217 in USA ? Or any Asia-based store shipping it to worldwide?

    Or should I go with EIDE version? Is there any visible performance difference between SATA and EIDE versions ?

    In the states, only the DVR-117D is available. I haven't seen the 217D show up yet.
