Now I understand what's wrong with the 8x DVD-R burned at 12x. It's supposed to be doing ZCLV but it's incorrectly going straight to 12x, instead of the first step to 8x.Quote:no still can't burn TYG02 @12x even with the new EEPROM Utility.
BTW, I've been advised that a fix is coming for this.

2601, will it let you burn the MCC003 at 16x. What does it do then?
I have to say that I prefer the burn time and most other drives use ZCLV for 8x media overclocked to 12x.__________________

That's almost unbelievable! What were they thinking? The shift to 10x is too soon and the other shifts after that are too late.
If I'm ever able to patch this drive, I know one of the first new patches I'll be adding.
Thanks 2601. I'll have to ask about this as well...__________________

That's a lot better than the 12x burn. Could it have been a bad disc?
Let's hope the mistake is not enabling CAV and the ZCLV shift points have never been set correctly.__________________

I'm advised it's all related to the same problem. So I'm picking my above guess is correct.Quote:Let's hope the mistake is not enabling CAV and the ZCLV shift points have never been set correctly.__________________

Another step backwards for Liteon
, looks like liteon made a mess trying to release this drive at the same time as optiarc, now we can only hope that they will fix this problems with a few firmware updates. __________________

I am considering purchasing one of these drives to replace my 2 month old iHAS422 which bit the dust. Should I pick up an iHAS324 or go for another iHAS422?
FYI, info on my iHAS422 dilemma is located here.

Just got this drive (iHAS-324-08) from NewEgg today. Wanted to replace an old IDE LH-20A1P which, while burning great, gets it's tray stuck if no disc is present.
My question is:
Are there any patched firmwares available for it?
Reading up on it, but seems so far as the asnwer to my question is no.
