He had a chance to visit that factory in the autumn of 2004 when SkyMedia sold CD-R lines to Vietnam (at the time of the visit they were moving them from Yvonand's facility) and just few months before SkyMedia stopped also DVD-R production.
Thanks again Matus for pics and info!

Me tooQuote:This is like media porn. I'm getting so excited just looking at the photos.

It's sad that whole recordable optical media industry in Europe is almost dead now
Thanks guys. I will post similar pictures from Eximpo (CD-R and DVD-R manufacturer from Czech republic) and Must Technologies in the near future.__________________

Not so said.Quote:Me too
It's sad that whole recordable optical media industry in Europe is almost dead now
We still have:
MBIL (bought up Philips production) blu ray manufacturing.
Sony who makes mostly non recordables in austria. Because of profit margins but on occasions recordables.
Quite some technology supplying compannies.
FTI and MAM-A are operating because of european (Swiss) investments.
And lets face it most european manufacturers didn't produce good media.__________________

Yeah but OM&T BV/MBI is only a R&D company, not the real manufacturer. Sony makes a recordable media in a very small amounts, and MAM-A does not exist anymore.Quote:Not so said.Quote:Me too

And lets face it most european manufacturers didn't produce good media.
The only important european companies in recordable media manufacturing industry are quality control equipment manufacturers (AudioDev, DaTarius, etc), Ciba (dye manufacturer) and manufacturers or CD-R/DVDR lines and other manufacturing equipment (Singulus, Tapematic, Netstal, etc.).
The only manufacturer of recordable media in Europe now is UEP/Mirex, which is still making CD-Rs in Russia.
Other companies (SkyMedia Manufacturing, OMP S.A., Condor SL, CSI, MAM-E, Digital Disc Dessau, Euro Digital Disc, CDA, 3A Media, CD VIDEO S.A., Trendes, Eximpo, Boca, Digital Valley, MediaSys, etc) either do not exist or do not produce recordable media anymore.
And I know that the quality of most media made in Europe was very bad, but still...

strange......I used to be in contact with them quite a lot.
and all of a sudden............phew, history.
any link about that ?! how do u know for sure ?
they made crappy media anyway
just like VIVASTAR, I bitched at them coz they sold me crappy 2X DVD-R.
they sent me replacement discs, that turned up unreadable 2 months later.
in the meantime they went bankrupt.
MAM-E also gave me MBI replacement discs for crappy MCI4XG01 bought a few years earlier........ever seen 200 PIE levels all along the discs ?

sure, go ahead
well on your link it doesn't say that MAM-E is dead, does it?
strangely enough they sent me MBI replacement discs before going down
annoying you can't edit on this forum.....I meant PIF, not PIE...
"VIVASTAR" and "MCI4XG01" were unreadable dyes after a few months.
gotta love all the sites like the cdfreaks partner romstore.be that said "HIGH QUALITY!!!" and sold the MAM-E "MCI4XG01" 1 EURO a pop
good thing MAM-E gave me replacement discs, but I sold them on ebay
they were shrinkwrapped unbranded MBI -R -

damn you're good!
so many machines for such crappy media
I'll dig up if I can find some VIVASTAR discs, and some MAM-E MCI4XG01 quality scans
I might as well scan my oldest MAM-E TTH01, as they were giving fantastic results on my Pioneer 108.
to get back on the Vivastar, I burned them on a Panasonic LF-D311, which Vivastar was also selling as their rebadged burner....so can't really argue about my drive
BTW concerning MAM-E, before their website went down they had a big banner on there saying "next week we will have some super cool awesome new media for professionals only!!!"
I guess someone was supposed to put money in the basket......but changed their mind at the last minute
