Did you know: Additional steps required to decrypt some DVDs

DVDFab / DVD Region+CSS Free Discuss, Additional steps required to decrypt some DVDs at Movie copy software forum; Sorry if this is the wrong forum (or if it's old news for most of you), but I feel I need to warn you about some particular DVDs that will require this aditional step in order to be fully decrypted. Sorry if this is the wrong forum (or if it's old news for most of you), but I feel I need to warn you about some particular DVDs that will require this aditional step in order to be fully decrypted.

DVDFab or even other softwares like AnyDVD will not decrypt the entire disc alone. So far I have only saw one (perhaps two) titles with this issue, but if you do a Google search you will find people arguing the same "region marking" thing - When Harry Met Sally (confirmed) and Street Fighter/1994 movie (old edition, not 100% confirmed), both from R4/Brazil (note: I owned/have purchased these discs, both were original).

    This is the original thread:
    http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143764

And this is the tutorial I translated, based on other one I saw in my language:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/758910

After following the procedures above (from the Afterdawn link), I was able to decrypt this disc without seeing the warning "This Player Is Incompatible With Region Marking Of This Disk".

    Hello, Sidrack.
Thanks very much for this tip. Really appreciate it, and if push comes to shove, I'll have this in my toolbox as well.

I use PgcEdit on every movie I rip no matter what ripping program I used. I almost always find things that need correction or items that are useless and can be removed.

    Mil de agradecimentos, Sidrack.

I would think Fengtao could teach PathPlayer how to deal with this. ??

I'm not sure if pathplayer could detect things like useless cells at the beginning and end of the movie but PgcEdit finds them.

    Quite right too.

The 'remove useless stuff' function is relatively new but it's worth its weight in gold.

There's no other program available that does this so easily and in such an automated fashion.

This subject has been discussed in the AnyDVD boards and it seems I was configuring both AnyDVD/DVDFab in the wrong way, regarding the region-code (also read the part where I told my LG drive was using factory settings, no region set):
Link to the thread in the post #7

Once I get my hands on the quoted discs (Harry/SF) again, I will test if something changes. So perhaps the navigation issues experienced by some players were a result of those wrong settings, and perhaps the "region marking" error from the "When Harry Met Sally" disc was solved with those steps... perhaps PGCEdit wasn't necessary at first, after all.

So this discussion is about movies that you do not own?
    I'm gone.

    Hi Sidrack,

Could you please use "Save IFO Files" in DVDFab "Info" settings, and send the files to fengtao(at)dvdidle.com?

I will check it out asap. Thank you very much!

    Best Regards,
    Fengtao
