pinto2 isn't in the U.S., he's in the Nordic region. Perhaps the TN warehouse is for people in the east coast? Typically, any new item will come out of CA.

Newegg has a New Jersey warehouse you'd expect to ship to the eastern third of the US -- if they have the item in stock. I'm next to Wisconsin (in Minnesota) and get 95% of my NE shipments from the Tennesse warehouse.

I've removed the 204N reference from the thread title since there might be differences with SATA and USB versions (as also seen with 202 vs. 203). So, there should be a separate thread for the 204N drives.

Strange for another thread for same drive just because it's a LS type?

Why is this pinto2? Chipset with extra "L"?

    Example: LG GSA H62N/L thread.

Since the 203B thread is really large, having a separate thread for the 203N isn't bad at all

So 203N and 203B are exactly the same drive, with Lightscribe on top? Can we expect the same burning quality for both drives?

The drives might be basically the same with also same write quality, but they must not necessarily. Even minor differences might affect the write quality.
So judge yourself having a look at the N and the B scans (There is also a 203D out now).

    Thanks mciahel.
That was one of the reasons I started this thread.

I've both drives but can't agree they are "exactly the same".
Mainchip and OPU (optical pick-up unit) differ among others (haven't had the time to look for all mechanical differences though).
Regarding burn quality, I only have done a few burns on S203N drive. Can't build any opinion out of this.

I live less than 10 miles from the NJ warehouse and I still got mine from Tennessee. Go figure. From the scans I have seen there is not that much of a difference to make me buy another, I do not need Lightscribe and I am extremely happy with the SH203B model. I am however interested in seeing if indeed the differences in the hardware that pinto2 has noticed will affect the burn quality.

Well my 203N is out for delivery today, this is a first in years for UPS to deliver 1 day earlier than scheduled.

Depending when it gets here I should have a few scans up today and MANY more on Thursday.

    H/W:A Ver:N
    Firmware=SB01

After a few burns and scans I have noticed it burns much different than my 203B, TYG03 not near as good but MCC03RG20 and MCC02RG20 are better.

    Still more to burn....

    Burned with: CDSpeed
    Burned at: 20x
    Time: 4:38

Consider TRT's good, I will post if bad
