Maybe Erik can set another 30 trial on the next update for the purpose of further debugging. I mean its us, the Freaks, and him the Master, that are going to debug it, refine it, and add new things that our Drive manufacturers (and Software designers i.e. NERO!) don't want us to have. But it will take time ... of course.

At this point I don't have the drives to get in the ball game here except the LG H55; He did put support for the Panasonic chipset in CD-DVD and DiscSpeed for DQ scanning with only some performance issues that I've been able to easily workaround. But I doubt very much he has enabled it in ODC for the Panasonic chipset in LG drives. I've read the whole thread; very interesting, and a lot of potential for ODC if we work with him.

Just did a test with Liteon 20A1 ... program failed to test 2nd layer .. just like DiscSpeed 4.7.716 and DiscSpeed5 ....... sigh

Also, at the end of jitter test, my drive made repeated clicking noises so I closed the program rather than letting it continue doing God knows what.

Still needs major major work to fix

The create test disc function does not work on PIONEER DVR-118/218CHV and causes Windows hang.

I really like this new version, finally has some added value over CDSpeed, nothing revolutional though, and probably still buggy

I don't know if this has been mentioned before. For the heck of it I tried installing the current version (v1.30) even though the "30 day trial" counter had tripped for me on a previous version.

    It worked.

After installing v1.30 my trial counter went back to 0 of 30 days. So if you were trying out Opti Control but gave up when your 30 days ran out, it looks like you can try it out again.

    FWIW,

Measuring PI/PIF and jitter on the second layer is now possible with version 1.30 with the older LiteOn series (ie. 160xx6S, 165xx6S, 20A1, 20A4, ...).

I don't know why this happens with this drive. I tested it with the most recent Pioneer I have, the 115 and it works fine with all settings.
I wil order a 117 to see if I can reproduce this.

One "feature" that I looked for but didn't see was a display of a DVD's label. I see the disc type, media ID, length and so forth, but nothing that helps me identify which particular disc was actually being tested.

Being able to include the label as part of the save file name would be an extra nice bonus as it might help to organize saved test result images.

    Did I just overlook something?

    Erik,

What is the paid licensing scheme for this program ? Is this just for single version, minor number ? or lifetime license ? Can't find it here nor in the web site.

    Suggestion :

Make a promo say for example to 1st 100 registered users will have lifetime license for future version upgrade, of course once you ironed out major bugs and glitches.

Any reason I can't get the jitter to run with an iHAS324, where it works with an iHAS422?

I downloaded the zip file, extracted and run the exe.
The registration window appeared, I pressed "continue" and the program closed.

I downloaded the setup file and the same thing happened.

I just have a couple of things to mention - I am using the latest version 130, and with bluray disc quality testing I am using a LiteOn iHES208 drive, and first off the jitter doesn't show up: I see there is a check box for it on the BD test screen, but after the scan completes - no jitter line, and I have it set for the same speed as the scan speed. See screenshot. Also the avg. LDC and BIS seem to be off by a decimal point (too small). And in the manual it mentions that a good burn should have a LDC under 13 and a BIS under 15, well, in all the discs I have scanned the LDC is far above 13 - more like 130 and the value for BIS is under 15 - so I think there is a typo there, I am just guessing at that - since I know next to nothing about these quantities and their meaning, save what is mentioned in the manual. Otherwise I think the tool is on it's way, it seems to give higher readings for DVD quality scan readings than nero discspeed...

the Lite On iHES208 gives jitter on DVD quality scans not BD scans. Manual says there are three liteon drives which are supported for BD quality scanning. DH-401S, IHES106, iHES208. I guess the jitter box on the BD scan screen is for looks at this point

I really want to test the reliability of C2 errors of different drives, as well as drives ability to read audio discs with damage, and I want to do this with pressed discs, not CD-Rs as this is not the same as reading pressed audio discs.

I think this could be done by taking a good quality audio disc, ripping it, confirming the rip is accurate and saving the disc image as a wav.

Then damage the disc. Re-rip in multiple drives. Look at frames where C2 errors are recorded and bit compare results with the accurately ripped wav.

Ideally one would have multiple copies as the ideal damage would be a number of tracks with various amounts of damage, some easy to recover, some nearly impossible to recover.

Upgrades are free for all minor versions and for at least one year.

Out of curiosity, what does it mean when the Quality Check graph shows RED? I mean I assume it means something bad is happening, but it's not obvious to me how or what sort of bad that may be.

Is there some "cut off" for a PIF sample beyond which it is graphed in red? Any details to aid in interpretation of the graph would be much appreciated.
