Identifying burned CD manufacturer

Couldn't find more appropriate forum for such question...

Is it really impossible to determine manufacturer of an already-burned CD? Both KProbe and DVDInfoPro, both on Plextor and Sony drives I own, say that I give pressed disks.
Maybe that was because I always burn CD's in "Disk at Once" mode, and finalize them?

And more general question - as far as I know, for DVDs there are different codes for different manufacturers, but that's not the case with CDs. How then are they identified? And what are those A+/A-?

It seems to be down to the drive - some will ID burned media, others will not.

DVDs have a media ID, as you say.

CD media has the ATIP code, the last digit of which used to indicate long or short strategy, though it could be mismatched on cheaper media made with any old stamper and possibly mismatched dye.

I wonder then what drives are capable if id'ing it - if neither Sony CD-W30a (== LiteOn), nor PX-708A can, both being not the worst ones...

Try Nero CD-DVD Speed.
With that, I can see media ID using my LG 4163B and with Benq 1650.

I suspect Cavaler got a program installed that hides the ATIP, clonecd, plextools or alcohol... something like that.
