Since version 4.7.7.x CD-DVD Speed uses the auto insert notification of Windows to check the disc status but unfortunately this can cause problems on some systems.
I'm working on a fix now.

I notice that drives that don't support bitsetting ( like my DVR-108 ) hangs the 4.7.5.0 version of CDSpeed. The software keeps accessing the drive but stop working. 4.7.7.3 doesn't show that issue.

Man thanks Erik!

Something possible like LightningUK uses in ImgBurn to lock the drive for exclusive use? This seems to keep the drive from being interrupted from any other applications

Erik, any idea when you might be releasing 4.7.7.7 so that the rest of us can perform jitter scans on the Liteon 20A3P? I wouldn't mind so much, but CodeKing keeps posting scans from his copy, and it is making me extremely jealous!

FYI, Scanning CD for C1/C2 with my LG GCE-8527B (Firmware 1.04) works in Nero CD-DVD Speed 4.7.7.5, but not with DiscSpeed 4.9.0.0

Version 4.7.7.15 is now available for download.
These are the changes:
  • Improved support for HD DVD, BD and DVD-RW DL
  • Moved capture button from title bar to client area
  • BitSetting: improved support for LG and LiteOn drives
  • Disc Quality Test
    • added jitter support for Liteon 20A3 drives
    • improved support for recent Asus drives
  • Small improvements and bug fixes

TA Jitter should also work with 20A4 drives with this version.

Hmm, no TA Jitter tab appears when my 20A4H is selected, even if it's the default at CD Speed startup.

Damn, I was really hoping you'd get around to hiding the tabs that didn't apply to the selected drive.

If you can hide them when NO drive supports the feature, surely it's not much to tidy it up properly and only have them displayed when they need to be? (Of course if you didn't ever hide them, that would change things and this suggestion/request would be invalid )

How about the TA Jitter tab for the A3 series LiteOn drives? Do they support that or is it just the A1 / A4 ones?

I forgot to mention that the settings are now stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
So to enable scanning for Samsung drives this value has to be modified (not deleted!):
