CD-DVD Speed will be replaced by DiscSpeed. The name was changed to DiscSpeed because BD and HD DVD are also supported.

Running Vista Ultimate x64 here. Having problems scanning Verbatim DVD+R DL MKM 001 media with Benq 1640 @ BSRB using Disc Quality in CD-DVD Speed v4.7.7.5

Getting a no additional sense information (000000) every time. Is there a solution for this or is it just a bug somewhere?

Here's my LiteOn Jitter Speed setting tool:

Kind of a sledgehammer to crack a walnut, compared to DrageMester's REG files.

There are actually some discs with burning problems that don't show up in 16x scans but do show up in 4x scans. The faster scanning speed is more picky most of the time but sometimes it's the other way around.

I don't have much experience with @4X scanning, but I confirm that some issues have less chances to appear in @16X scans, like localised PIF peaks, and also that with some media/scanner combinations (I've encountered this with +R media scanned in my Lite-On 16P1S DVD-ROM), @8X ican be actually more picky (much higher errors reported). The latter is BTW something that confuses me because I honestly can't think of a logical reason. (and no, it's not a matter of dropped samples in this case, I've checked).

Hi
Welcome onboard.
I find that both that version of CD/DVDSpeed & the current DiscSpeed to be either full of bugs as the scanning with most BenQs appears to be pot luck!
Or maybe geared towards Lite-On, to such an extent that reliability on any other drive is unlikely.
Perhaps Discpeed will look at Lite-Ons inability to scan either CDRs (in any maeningful way) or DL with complete Jitter (in fact slow the scan down to 4x or less, results in not being able to cope with layerbreak.).
As it now stands it looks like only scanning for SL with jitter via Lite-On.

I got a question about the new 4.7.7.5. How come under "disc quality" it is no longer telling me what drive the disc was burned by?

Thanks

You have to use CD-DVD Speed to burn with for it to appear.

Thanks again for the great tool, Erik.

Thought you should see this. Sorry if there's an obvious reason for the discrepancies between the scans... like being bad and unblocking the Sammy. Perhaps a small logic error?

Anyway, cheers.

Yes, I noticed the same problem today as well.

Not correct. I've had discs I burn in CDSpeed not show the burner and discs I've burned on Imgburn or YuBurner(Mac OSX) show the drive that burned it. I realize discs burned in CDSpeed should show up though.

NIce Tool....

Does anyone know which BD or HD drives provide error rates to DiscSpeed?

Hi again Erik i have got another problem if you have a few minutes. I now have a SATA/E-SATA/USB 2.0 external enclosure. No matter what SATA drive i put in it i cannot see it in Nero CD-DVD Speed. The same external enclosure will show no problem in XP Pro, DVD Fab Platinum, and every other program BUT Nero CD-DVD Speed.

I have contacted Galaxy the mfgrs and they said if XP Pro sees it then the enclosure is doing it's job. Also most current Nero CD-DVD Speed will NOT see this drive with 2 pc's and one lappy.

This enclosure is using the USB side. Here's a link to enclosure > http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817716048

Thank you for your time

Can you please try it with ASPI? Just download this file and copy it to the Nero CD-DVD Speed folder.

Can you post a screenshot?
This error normally only shows up if either the disc is badly damaged or if the scanning speed is too high.

I have also had discs burnt with IMGburn show up as recorded by my drive. It is still not doing with 4.7.7.5. Is there away to fix this?

I'm not sure I understand your question.

Any CD/DVD burned with CDSpeed will have information on the drive and firmware used for burning the disc, and this information will be shown e.g. on the Disc Quality tab. It's possible to change this behaviour with an option so that this information is not recorded to the disc, but by default it is recorded.

DVD-R media (and DVD-RW?) burned by any drive that I know of will record which drive was used for burning (but not firmware version). If you use any other burning program than CDSpeed, so that the CDSpeed-specific information hasn't been recorded to the disc, then CDSpeed will show this information instead of its own specific information on e.g. the Disc Quality tab.

DVD+R(W) and CD-R media not recorded with CDSpeed will not contain any recorded information about the drive/firmware used for burning, and CDSpeed will not be able to display such info on burned discs.

My guess would be that Samsung wants it that way. Just a guess though.
